Teams--typically 3-4 members--race on SPRINT courses ranging from a few hours to EXPEDITION courses of 6+ days.
Races are broken into stages that include one discipline or multiple disciplines. For example, a stage might be just trekking, biking, or paddling (flatwater or whitewater); or a stage could be a packraft-trek, a bike-packraft, or a trek with a ropes section--that means carrying your packraft over mountains, or putting your bike on your lap as you paddle, or trekking to a cliff and rappelling down.
Checkpoints are scattered over the terrain, and teams navigate to them by map and compass as they race to the finish line.
